Overview

Tsavo Safari Itinerary

Tsavo National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and oldest parks, is divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West, each offering unique landscapes and wildlife experiences. This three-day safari takes you through the park’s diverse terrain, from vast savannahs to volcanic landscapes, providing unforgettable encounters with elephants, lions, rhinos, and more.

Day 1: Journey to Tsavo East

The adventure begins with a 7:00 AM departure from Nairobi or Nakuru, traveling through Kenya’s countryside. Along the way, travelers may spot zebras and giraffes near the highway. By 11:00 AM, arrival at Tsavo East’s Bachuma Gate marks the start of the safari. A thrilling game drive follows, where visitors may encounter elephants, lions, and buffaloes.

At 12:30 PM, check-in at the lodge or camp is followed by a delicious lunch and a short rest. The afternoon game drive at 3:30 PM explores the park’s famous red elephants and the Galana River, home to hippos and crocodiles. As the sun sets, guests return to their lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-Day Exploration of Tsavo East

The day begins with an early breakfast at 7:00 AM, preparing for a full day of adventure. The morning game drive at 8:00 AM offers spectacular wildlife sightings, including lions, cheetahs, and giraffes. Visitors also explore the Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow, and the Lugard Falls, where water cascades over rugged rocks.

At 12:30 PM, lunch is served at a scenic spot, followed by a visit to Mudanda Rock, a natural viewpoint where elephants gather to drink. The afternoon game drive at 3:30 PM provides another opportunity to spot wildlife before returning to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Departure from Tsavo

The final day begins with breakfast at 7:00 AM, followed by leisure time at the lodge before check-out. At 10:00 AM, travelers depart from Tsavo, enjoying one last scenic drive before arriving in Nairobi or Nakuru by 2:00 PM, marking the end of an unforgettable safari.
